We hosted our 2nd annual Open House on September 27th. It was another success with approximately 200 people coming to see & learn about alpacas. We also had fiber expert and fellow alpaca farmer, Pia Al-Ubaidi from Fioridel Campo Suris do a fiber and spinning demonstration as well as a Peruvian food demonstration. Retail products made from alpaca fiber were available for purchase as well as alpaca yarn & raw fiber for those fiber artist who like to spin their own yarn. Many local alpaca breeders hosted their open houses at various times during the weekend.
What IS an alpaca?
Alpacas, cousins to the llama, are native to the Andean Mountain range of South America, particularly Peru, Bolivia, and Chile.
